Hoppy Easter!

The weather could not have been anymore perfect than it was on Friday! An absolutely wonderful day for an Easter Egg Hunt! Not only was the hunt an absolute blast, but watching the students use the 7 Habits was even more fun to watch. They showed "Habit 1: Be Proactive" by making sure they were taking charge of their own actions and doing the right thing even if no one was watching; "Habit 4: Think Win-Win" by making sure everyone had the same amount of eggs at the end of the hunt; "Habit 6: Synergize" by working together to find eggs; "Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw" by taking in the fresh air and having fun with their friends! It was a day for the books! Thank you parents/guardians for bringing in eggs and candy!

And they're off!

Career Day

As part of our school's plan to fully implement the Leader In Me program, our staff is working hard to provide opportunities for our community to play a vital role in our students' education. This Friday, we invited members of the community to join us for our first Career Day. Each volunteer provided a detailed description of their job, daily schedule, and their importance to Owensboro. The students were able to talk with ambulance drivers, truck drivers, firemen, landscapers, doctors, OMU electricians, and many others! Many of the guests brought their equipment for the students to see and touch.

Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to spend with our little ones! An even bigger thank you to Jennifer Thurman and Kristin Tines for making the event possible! We cannot wait for next year's turn out!

The tires are bigger than Keily!

Mr. Hoffman was a hit!

Character Traits

The focus of instruction in M.I.N.D groups has been on Character Traits. Characters do things, feel things, hear things, say things, and think things. But the important thing is that characters act. These actions show us what kind of people these characters are: friendly, sad, nosey, happy, or proactive. When we talk about a character, we often describe that character in terms of character traits, descriptive adjectives like happy or sad that tell us the specific qualities of the character. They're the same kinds of words that we might use to describe ourselves or others.

Mrs. Bratcher came up with the neatest idea- the students in her M.I.N.D group created posters with traits of themselves. These turned out SUPER cute!

March Madness

Shew, it has been a busy few months! Anyone else as happy as I am that the snow days are finally over?!? Maybe we can FINALLY have a normal schedule for a change! Here's hoping! Here are some snap shots we have taken over the past few months. Look how big these little ones are getting!

Drew making a sign for the OHS basketball team!

Waiting outside for the basketball team to arrive! We had tons of fun cheering on the boys to state!

Jessica was in the St. Patrick's Day spirit :)

Mr. Gaddis gave an awesome speech to our Sutton kids about putting first things first and the importance of school. He talked about beginning with the end in mind- if you want to play sports at OHS, then your work comes first!

For a spring craft, we synergized to make word family flowers on Friday

Spring has finally arrived in Kindergarten! We love our new hallway display!
